The challenge

VARO needed a B2B website that could support professional customers without creating a separate digital operation beside the company’s established processes. Product and customer information already lived around Navision, so the web platform had to work with that source rather than duplicate it. Security was equally important because the experience handled business accounts, commercial information and transactions.

Role and responsibility

As lead web developer, David owned the technical development of the platform and the design of its Navision integration. His responsibility extended beyond the initial release: he remained involved in maintenance and iterative improvement as users and business needs evolved. That continuity helped keep decisions about the frontend, services, security and ERP connection aligned over the lifetime of the website.

A practical B2B experience

The customer-facing platform was built with Vue and gave business users a direct route to relevant product information and account-related workflows. Algolia supported fast product discovery, helping customers navigate the catalogue without making the ERP responsible for interactive search behaviour. Firebase supplied cloud application capabilities around the web experience.

The interface was designed as an operational channel rather than a marketing-only website. The value came from connecting useful customer actions to the processes that could fulfil them inside the business.

Connecting the website to Navision

A .NET backend formed the controlled boundary between the web application and Navision. It translated the data and operations needed by the customer experience while keeping the ERP as the operational source of truth. This avoided parallel product administration and helped information remain consistent between what customers saw and what internal teams processed.

The integration also provided a stable service layer around Navision, so frontend changes did not need to reproduce ERP-specific behaviour directly in the browser.

Security and continued improvement

Security was treated as a core engineering requirement throughout the platform. The design had to protect business and transaction data while allowing authenticated customers to complete useful work. After launch, ongoing maintenance covered operational issues, platform updates and improvements informed by user feedback and changing commercial needs.

This long-term ownership kept the platform from becoming a one-off delivery and allowed technical choices to be revisited as the surrounding systems changed.

Result

VARO gained a secure B2B channel connected to the processes already running the company. Customers could use a responsive web experience backed by dependable product and operational data, while internal teams retained Navision as their central system. The architecture combined a modern interface with a controlled integration layer and provided a maintainable base for continued development after launch.
